My question: What if “Plan B” became “Plan A”?
For more than 25 years, I have exhibited my artwork in galleries, retail shops, and craft shows. This has been in addition to working full-time jobs, part-time jobs, and freelance. Like a lot of artists, I’ve held numerous positions - visual merchandising, photo styling, greeting card design, and editing – while trying to find studio time evenings and weekends so I could focus on my own art. “Plan A” was always: Get a paycheck. “Plan B” was always: Work on art (when time allows. when the errands are done. when the laundry is finished. when you’re not too tired). You can probably tell where this is going. One day in the not-too-distant past, I had to ask: What if “Plan B” became “Plan A”? What if I could spend 8 hours a day in my studio instead of 8 hours a day in a cubicle? What would happen? What could happen? I intend to find out…
